Please update your phone to Android 14 or higher  for full functionality. To establish a connection with PlantWave, your phone's Bluetooth and Location Services must be turned on.

Initial App Install - Location Services needed for all Android devices:

1. Visit the Play Store and install the PlantWave app
2. Open the app and select Connect at the top
3. When prompted to allow device location, choose "While using the app" or "Allow"
4. Allow all other permissions to enable full functionality of the app (recording etc.)
5. Continue with device-specific connection steps below

Confirm Location Services permissions on all Android devices:

1. Open Android device system-level Settings
2. Open general Apps settings
3. Select PlantWave from the list
4. Select Permissions under Privacy
5. Choose Location and ensure the setting is while using the app

Here are some possible device-specific guides to help:

Samsung Galaxy S21 and up

1. Ensure Location Services permissions are set correctly by following the Confirm Location Services steps above
2. Open the app on a Samsung Galaxy that has bluetooth and location services turned on
3. Make sure your PlantWave is ready to pair (fully charged, turned on)
4. Press Connect in the app
5. Choose your PlantWave
6. Wait 2 seconds
7. Ignore the phone’s pairing prompt by tapping elsewhere on the screen 
8. Close the connection screen
9. Ready to listen!

Samsung Galaxy S10 and others

1. Ensure Location Services permissions are set correctly by following the Confirm Location Services steps above
2. Open the app on a Samsung Galaxy that has bluetooth and location services turned on
3. Make sure your PlantWave is ready to pair (fully charged, and turned on)
4. Press Connect in the app
5. Choose your PlantWave
6. Wait 2 seconds
7. Ignore the phone’s pairing prompt by tapping elsewhere on the screen
8. Close the connection screen
9. Ready to listen!

LG phones, LG Stylo

1. Ensure Location Services permissions are set correctly by following the Confirm Location Services steps above
2. Open the app on an LG device that has bluetooth and location services turned on
3. Make sure your PlantWave is ready to pair (fully charged, turned on)
4. Press Connect in the app
5. Choose your PlantWave
6. Ignore the phone’s pairing prompt by tapping elsewhere on the screen
7. Close the connection screen
8. Ready to listen!

Google Pixel 6/6s and up

1. Ensure Location Services permissions are set correctly by following the Confirm Location Services steps above
2. Open the app on a Google Pixel that has bluetooth and location services turned on
3. Make sure your PlantWave is ready to pair (fully charged, turned on)
4. Press Connect in the app
5. Choose your PlantWave
6. Wait 2 seconds
7. Ignore the phone’s pairing prompt by tapping elsewhere on the screen
8. Close the connection screen
9. Ready to listen!

Google Pixel 4/5

1. Ensure Location Services permissions are set correctly by following the Confirm Location Services steps above
2. Open the app on a Google Pixel that has bluetooth and location services turned on
3. Make sure your PlantWave is ready to pair (fully charged, turned on)
4. Press Connect in the app
5. Choose your PlantWave
6. Confirm the phone’s pairing prompt
7. Ready to listen!

OnePlus 8, 9, and 10

1. Ensure Location Services permissions are set correctly by following the Confirm Location Services steps above
2. Open the app on a OnePlus device that has bluetooth and location services turned on
3. Make sure your PlantWave is ready to pair (fully charged, turned on)
4. Press Connect in the app
5. Choose your PlantWave
6. Ignore the phone’s pairing prompt or any failed pairing pop up and head back to home screen
7. Ready to listen!

Huawei (legacy EMUI devices only)

Only older Huawei phones running EMUI are supported; devices on HarmonyOS are not compatible.

1. Ensure Location Services permissions are set correctly by following the Confirm Location Services steps above
2. Open the app on a Huawei that has bluetooth and location services turned on
3. Make sure your PlantWave is ready to pair (fully charged, turned on)
4. Press Connect in the app
5. Choose your PlantWave
6. Confirm the phone’s pairing prompt
7. Ready to listen!
